Delhi Public School Khanna celebrated its Sixth Founders Day for Juniors. Mr. Ravi Bhagat Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The efforts put by the students, teachers and staff was visible on the stage with immaculate shows. Scintillating performances by the students left the audience spell bound.
The little ones of the pre-primary wing lit up the stage with a medley of songs and dances. Pinocchio- a lively theatre production was immensely appreciated by the Chief Guest, Mr.Ravi Bhagat .
Mr. Ravi Bhagat in his address said that he was highly impressed by the initiative
taken by DPS to inculcate ethical values in students. He further said that the role of parents is very crucial in the up brining of the children. The Pro Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Annu Bains said that the parents should inculcate a love for reading in their children and they should encourage to watch such programs on TV that stimulate their minds. At the end she appreciated the efforts of the teachers for putting up such as wonderful show.
DPS Khanna Students visit to Banks
As a part of the social responsibility of the students and the feeling of giving back to the society, the students of DPS Khanna visited various banks of Khanna city today. They inquired about the well being of the customers as well as the bank staff.
The children visited the Punjab National Bank, the Oriental Bank of Commerce, the State Bank of India and the State Bank of Patiala.
The children offered tea to the customers and bank officials as a show of gratitude towards them. They helped people especially the senior citizens to fill up various forms.The people appreciated the effort of the students.
Annual Cross Country- ‘Run For The Nation’
The joy, enthusiasm and fervor was palpable in the air as 102 students from classes VI –XII of Delhi Public School, Khanna participated in the first Annual Cross Country Race-‘Run for the Nation’ on October 2, 2016 to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The race was flagged off in the presence of the staff and the parents by Dr.Kuldeepak Singh Kular, Chief Bariatric Surgeon, Founder & Director of Kular Hospital, Bija. It was a sight to behold as the excitement of the children reached fever pitch as the race started and stayed that way till the very end. The race covered a distance of 5 kilometers .It commenced from the school campus at around 6:30 a.m. and concluded successfully at the school gate. The local administration played a significant role for the smooth functioning of the event.
The race categorized the students in three groups -U 14, U 17 and U 19.Winners of the event were given away the medals by the Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Kular.
Aditya Sharma, Parveer Singh & Sehaj Sukhleen Singh bagged the 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively in U14 (Boys) category. Whereas in the same category for girls, Anjalika Sharma, Sachi Gupta & Osheen Gupta secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions.
In U17 (Boys) category, 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions were clinched by Yadveer Singh. Jagraj Singh & Rudransh Wadhwa. The position holders of U17 (Girls) were-Harshpreet Kaur, Jasmeen Kaur & Harleen Kaur.The winners of U19 category were Yashraj Singh, Satvir Singh & Yugamvir Singh respectively.
Principal Shubhroto Mukharjee congratulated all the participants .He said that it was very encouraging to see the response from the students. He further added that such events bring out the talent and potential of the students. He appreciated the efforts put by all the staff members to make the event successful.

Independence Day Celebration
The 70th Independence Day was celebrated in Delhi Public School,Khanna with great enthusiasm and fervour. The function started with the hoisting of the National Flag by Mrs. Daljit Kaur, the Headmistress. It was followed by the National Anthem.
The school campus wore a festive look. There was an excitement in the air. Various events were organized to mark the occasion ranging from patriotic songs to group dances. A special assembly was conducted to commemorate the day that created an ambience of patriotism. All the students and teachers took a pledge to uphold India’s unity in diversity. Principal Shubroto Mukherjee, during his address to the students, said that young students are the future of any nation. They should play a major role for the upliftment of the country.
Health & Fitness Month
Health & Fitness was the theme of the month of May for the students of Pre Primary classes. Yoga & Exercise were a regular part of their morning assembly to promote awareness for physical fitness. A summer fruit party was also organized for the tiny tots.
Sahodaya Swimming Competition
“Sahodaya Swimming Champions 2016- Delhi Public School Khanna”
Zeal and zest marked the Sahodaya Swimming Competition 2016.Delhi Public School Khanna bagged the first prize at the Sahodaya Swimming Competition 2016, held at its premises from 24 May to 25 May 2016. The swimmers of our school brought laurels by emerging the overall champions for the second time in a row.
The Dipsites, Sukhmanvir Singh and Yugamvir Singh were declared the Best Swimmer in the under-14 and under-18 category respectively.
Delhi Public School Khanna hosted the Sahodaya School Swimming Competition for the second time in a row. The event was inaugurated by the Chairperson, Mrs. Annu Bains. Students from 5 schools participated in the event. The swimmers competed in different styles such as breast stroke, back stroke, butterfly stroke and free style in the under 14 and 18 categories. All the students displayed sportsmanship and participated enthusiastically.
Samanata Diwas Celebration
Samanata Diwas was celebrated on May 23,2016 to bring ‘Equality’ between the students studying in Government as well as Private Schools. It is an appreciable initiative taken by S.D.M Khanna Mr.Showkat Ahmad Parray. DPS Khanna was alloted 4 Govt. Schools such as Libra,Ikolahi,Baho Majra etc DPS students and teachers helped those children learn different activities.
We at DPS feel that the state run schools need a massive improvement and this first step will lead to larger strides that the country should take to improve the basic education provided by the state.
Nukkad Natak performed by DPS Khanna Students
Students of Delhi Public School Khanna performed a Nukkad Natak on May 21, 2016 to highlight the problem of pollution in Punjab. Khanna City has been declared one of the most polluted cities of the world by WHO. The students of DPS shouldered the responsibility to bring awareness among the citizens of the Khanna regarding this critical situation. They performed it at the busiest places of Khanna such as GTB Market, Guru Amardas Market & Books Market. The team got an overwhelming response by the onlookers. Everyone appreciated the afforts put by the students and teachers for raising voice against such a sensitive issue. Saplings were also distributed to the people so that they too plant more & more trees & contribute to make Khanna a better place to live.
Mrs Annu Bains, Chairperson of Delhi Public School Khanna, said that it was very important to sensitize the students to this very important issue. In turn these students then took the message to Khanna and its neighbouring areas. She further said that spreading awareness is one of the first steps we have to take to bring a change.
Investiture Ceremony 2016-17
DPS Khanna bestows upon its students the ability to be the future leaders of the world. The Investiture Ceremony for the session 2016-17 was held on 28 April 2016. The Chairperson Mrs. Annu Bains did the honour of pinning of the sashes and badges to all core council members of the Junior and the Senior Wing.
